To Submit or Not
I was going through the local Craigslist ads today looking at the many postings for hiring a Web Designer and I stumbled on a ghastly ad made by a design company from CA trying to inch in on customers local to Kissimmee. His main selling point was this, and I quote:
100 plus Search Engine Submission upon launch of site.
I took in a breath of water and coughed for like 2 minutes straight after seeing that. It is a practice I cant believe people are using to hook new clients. And the crazy part is that it is working.
So many times I consult a new client that comes to me and says: why is my website not showing up in the search engines, or my website is buried. And with a few questions to the web site owner reveals they have either used a site submission company or bought and used a piece of software that will submit to many websites.
Readers, this is bad business for a company to try to make you think this is SEO or that you need to submit your site to all these engines and directories because its just not true. It will do the opposite to helping your web site. Sure, this worked well about 5 years ago but things have changed drastically since then. And it does not stop here; I will touch on the importance of code markup validation in out next post. How important is it, and why.
If you are confused about the ‘Site Submit’ issue, please feel free to give us a call and I will be happy to cover it in more detail. (407) 350-5908
